Here are the City player ratings as Manchester City beat Wolves 5-1 at the Etihad Stadium. The emphatic win by the world champions sees Pep Guardiola’s side keep their Premier League title destiny in their own hands as emphatically won another must win match this evening. The world champions now only need 3 more wins to claim a fourth consecutive Premier League title.

The story of the game will be the four goals scored by Erling Haaland. City’s number 9 was back to his devastating best as he helped lead his team to an emphatic victory. Haaland was back at his devastating best as his first half hat trick ended the game by halftime. Wolves, to their credit, did attempt to get at Pep Guardiola’s side during the first half, but their determination to get forward opened up gaps for Manchester City to take full advantage.

Two penalties from Haaland and a towering header from City’s number 9 saw the champions take a 3-nil lead into the interval. Wolves did pull a goal back through Hee-Chan Hwang in the 53rd minute. But Phil Foden set up the goal of the game with a sublime ball to play in Haaland to score his fourth of the afternoon a minute later. There was time for Julian Alvarez to add City’s 5th in the 85th minute after he expertly finished after a sublime through ball from Rodri.

After Arsenal’s 3-nil win over Bournemouth earlier in the day, the champions responded in emphatic fashion.

Here are the City player ratings from City’s massive win at the Etihad Stadium.

City player ratings

Ederson-5/10: It was a quiet day in goal for Ederson. He was at fault for Wolves’ goal, which was the only source of frustration for Manchester City on the day.

Kyle Walker-7/10: City’s captain did his job as required. He wasn’t called into action often, but when required, he did what he had to do.

Manuel Akanji-7/10: As with Nathan Ake, Akanji went about his work with a minimal amount of fuss. The pair have become Pep Guardiola’s go to centre back pairing at a critical stage of the season.

Nathan Ake-7/10: Another typical Ake performance. Did his job with a minimal amount of fuss before being substituted.

Josko Gvardiol-7.5/10: The Croatian international continued his solid run of form. Was a threat going forward and earned City’s first penalty.

Rodri-9/10: Another brilliant display from City’s midfield general. Was at the heart of many of City’s best attacking moves and dictated the midfield battle.

Mateo Kovacic-8.5/10: A superb display from Kovacic. His midfield pairing with Rodri has brought out the best of the Croatian international. His passing was a particular highlight of his performance.

Kevin De Bruyne-7.5/10: His final delivery was just off, but he was a constant threat to the Wolves’ defence before he was substituted.

Phil Foden-8/10: The FWA Men’s Footballer of the Year put in a polished display before being substituted. His assist for Haaland’s fourth of the game was absolutely sublime.

Bernardo Silva-7/10: Another workman like display from Bernardo. He makes the champions tick through his workrate and determination coupled with his sublime skill.

Erling Haaland-10/10: Haaland was a complete wrecking ball as he tore Wolves apart. He scored 4 and looks back to his devastating best. An absolutely brilliant display from City’s number 9.
