Kendrick Perkins rips Pistons HC after salty comments over Knicks win

Monty Williams wasn't impressed with how the New York Knicks kept the pressure on during their 124-99 win over the Detroit Pistons

During his post-game news conference, he shared his displeasure at the Knicks' three-point barrage, including Donte DiVincenzo's new franchise record of 11 made threes.

During Tuesday's episode of ESPN's "First Take," Kendrick Perkins clapped back at Williams' comments. He noted how the Knicks did what they were supposed to do by keeping their foot on the gas.

"You're 12-60," Perkins said. "You have the worst record in the NBA. You can't get mad at the Knicks because they're doing their job. ... If you wanted to stop it, you should have game planned or trapped the man to slow him down. The Knicks did nothing wrong. This is professional basketball. We're talking about grown men. Again, Monty Williams is upset at the wrong person or the wrong team."

The Pistons have struggled all season long. Williams has failed to have the impact many had hoped when he signed a six-year $13M per season contract.

As a rebuilding team, the Pistons were undoubtedly going to struggle. However, the lack of growth throughout the season has certainly raised questions about the job Williams is doing.

New York was supposed to keep their foot on the gas. The biggest compliment you can pay an opponent is by trying your hardest every minute the clock is ticking.

Perkins' comments were both fair and logical. Detroit needs to find ways of stopping those runs as they occur rather than complaining about them after the fact.

Williams will have his work cut out for him over the summer. His reputation is taking a hammering. He needs to turn the Pistons around quickly, otherwise he may not see the full length of his deal with the franchise.
