Milwaukee Brewers top prospect Jackson Chourio has a mountain of expectations facing him. Aside from the pressure of being one of the most electrifying prospects in the game this offseason, the 19-year-old signed a historic eight-year, $82 million contract. Hard work, determination and results on the playing field all helped him secure this extension.

Throughout this process, Chourio additionally has drawn comparisons to some of the league’s greatest players. Ronald Acuna Jr. is one name commonly mentioned, but his former manager from the Biloxi Shuckers recently said that he has a similar tool set to a pair of former MVPs.

During an interview on "The Barrel Banter" podcast Mike Guerrero had many interesting things to say regarding Chourio. One of which was that he compared his tool set to Alex Rodriguez and Ken Griffey Jr. Guerrero has been around the game forever and saw both Rodriguez and Griffey Jr. play early on in their careers.

“I do think that he (Jackson Chourio) is a special guy. I saw (Ken) Griffey Jr. at 18 in the California League. I saw A-Rod really young also. His tool set is compared to those big names. Those guys were able to do a lot at that age, and hopefully he (Chourio) can play to that level and the hype.”

When asked about if Chourio will start 2024 on the Milwaukee Brewers' big league roster, Guerrero didn’t want to fully speculate, but he did acknowledge that his development will have to be finished in the big leagues. He also discussed his ability to make adjustments, how he does everything the right way and his work ethic.

“The product is going to have to be finished in the big leagues and you know it’s hard.  It’s not easy, but his skill set and everything is there.  It’s just a matter of time and it might not take too long because of his ability.”
