Michigan State football is officially on commit watch with a cornerback transfer after some dropped hints by Demetrice Martin.

Demetrice Martin is doing work in the transfer portal right now. Not only has he gotten a couple of important visits from the likes of Kobee Minor and Jeremiah Hughes over the past couple of days, but the Michigan State football cornerbacks coach may have just landed someone.

Martin tweeted out a hint that there might be another commitment coming soon following the Ben Roberts addition.

And Corey Robinson of 247Sports hinted at the same.

While this is also likely about the addition of Roberts, Martin tweeted his “bat signal” twice in a five-minute span on Wednesday which could signify another commitment is coming soon.

If this is indeed another transfer cornerback, it would likely be either Minor from Indiana or Hughes from LSU.

Minor was an All-Big Ten honorable mention selection this past season with the Hoosiers, recording 28 tackles and four pass breakups. He was one of the bight spots on a bad Indiana team before Tom Allen was fired. He might be the best-case scenario addition from the portal because he would be good enough to start at cornerback immediately. A cornerback duo of Ed Woods and Minor would be a massive upgrade.

Hughes, on the other hand, appeared in 13 games as a true freshman with LSU in 2023. He played primarily on special teams and had six tackles in his first season but decided to find a new home that would allow him to play more defensively at cornerback.

The Indiana transfer was on campus on Tuesday afternoon while Hughes was spending time in East Lansing on Wednesday.

Martin and Blue Adams have been making a killing in the portal this spring with additions of Woods, Lejond Cavazos, and apparently, this third mystery commitment that is on the horizon. The defensive backfield went from a major weakness to an intriguing group heading into the 2024 season.

Smith and Martin are getting hot.
